Do our senses lie?

How can we so sure what we see/hear is real? Why is Newton watching the apple drop real, and people having out of body experiences not real? At the end of the day, all we have to decide what is real is the information that comes in through our eyes, ears, nerves, taste, smell etc. If we didn’t have olfactory (smell) senses, would we say that there is no thing as smell? If we were colour blind, would that mean that there is no such thing as colour? Suppose that we are missing a sense that would enable us to…………….fill in the blank. It is very difficult to think of what this new sense might be, because it is very difficult to imagine another way of perceiving the world. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t other senses, just that we are not privy to them. Animals often hush and hide just before an earthquake happens; does that mean that they have a sixth sense we are not aware of, and that we will never be aware of.

Science- just other people's opinions?

And we have only decided what these scientific laws are through trying to make sense of our own observations. Newton saw the apple drop, and observed that there must be such a thing as gravity. This is a universal law which, coincidentally, means that people cannot float. (Strangely enough gravity does not seem to work at very big and small levels, such as atomic and galaxy scale.) But three weeks ago I observed myself floating against the ceiling of a bus. Other people have out of body experiences which they have observed. Can we make a universal scientific law out of that? If anyone’s got any answers, let me know.

How can we be so sure of what is real

It’s far too nice an afternoon to be spending it inside writing nonsense on a blog, but huh, there you go. The question that keeps bugging me is how can we be so sure of what is real? Why is me floating against the ceiling of a bus not real, and the smell, say of tulips, real? I don’t understand. Obviously

City Robbed!!!!

Citae were robbed!!! Hope Chelsea stuff Spurs, or the fight for fourth place is well and truly open. Come on Blue army.

Stalked by dead children

I saw him again. He’s about eight, at least he was when I last saw him. He’s got blue eyes and blond hair and he scares the hell out of me, because the last thing I knew about Simon was that he died about ten years ago. So how can I see him? Is he a ghost? I would say I need to stop taking drugs, but then I don’t do drugs. (Bad move peeps, I’m a support worker in Longsight for people who have taken far too many drugs, and believe me, they do see strange things.) I’m using this blog to get things off my chest; maybe you’ve noticed that.

Can I believe what I see

Okay people, can I believe my own eyes? I have no idea. I know that I left my body and floated against the ceiling of a bus going from Oxford Road Station to Didsbury. I know that happened, or I believe that happened because I looked down and I saw the top of my own head. Which means either I am going insane, or …………..what? Ideas please people. At the moment I’m starting to believe that I am going mad, or at least cannot trust what my own eyes and ears are telling me.
